my marie 5 d sharp

These 4 walls mean everything to me
Touching the sky is a breeze
I’m  held in your arms, I am free
And the best of it all is a dream

Men have confessed this disease
Christmas this year will be green
Nothing is just what it seems
My marie, my marie, my marie

I’ve counted the tears and the sighs
How could it be other wise?
We smile, but o great lord our cries
Unto thee the soul will arise
Beneath our sore feet, the long mile
And the dirt and the clay it is vile
We wear a mask of grins and lies
And pay a debt of human guile
The poor and the weak take their chance
For a glass and a song and a dance
Stumble and fall from the blow
While the vultures feast on the marrow
I have not got long to live dear
But who now will argue on appearance
For now I am sturdy and able
The pick of the gentelmans stable

my marie

oblivion

oblivion

voices in my head
through thick and thin
falling into oblivion-to
give this day or two alone and then
that's it

there she sits
across the wind
she is lifted into sin to
giving recreation pain to
that could kill him

She is here and there and everywhere
oblivion

a ship of death
comes again
cut my hair, bruise my skin
all without and all within
oblivion

is it this?
or illusion?
a little higher, there...the dawn
completely gone, utterly gone
oblivion

She is here and there and everywhere
oblivion

every come what may
till the breaks of days
oils anoint you, linaments
prove harsh defenders
to the angels of....oblivion

we're all tagged and tired
non money down required
i'm not afraid, the debt gets paid
on judgement day, at least that's
what some say
and john's on fire

She is here and there and everywhere
oblivion

riots forms deceased
a cut lack of sleep
here's a minute for you Lord
here's a biblical name for boys
celestial calls

the final blows
will go straight to video
on the streets, the saints you greet
will make the case for the complete
oblivion

She is here and there and everywhere
oblivion

mockingbird

i'm a mockingbird
i'm a mocking bird
with a thought preserved
and the razor word
with a demons thirst
and the saints reserve
i'm a mocking bird
a mocking bird
she's a hollow bird
she's a hollow bird
will the saints preserve
all these friends of hers
that skim the night and force the girls
with hollow words of a mocking bird
he's wide awake in a sleepy town
he's rising up and she's going down
throw high the rains into the sounds
of hired guns in a sleepy town
she's six for seven, placed to win
she's a queen with heaven washed with sin
simulations cracked within
soul corrections in the mist
in elastic traced for miles
out of style, single file
angels walk with holding smiles
pacing out forgotten miles
son of god will meet ya there
without a thought without a care
and in the end we're ashes dear
i'm hearing he might meet us there
overtake the lucky ones
who possess the golden guns
silver bullets crack the sun
and leave behind us lucky ones
mockingbirds
we're mockingbirds
we're bound together with these words
gospel tracts and facts reserved
for mockingbirds
for mockingbirds

God, don't be mad

Oh, God be praised
Hail
Lord is raised
low down down come the rains
rocks and triggers
scissors in the way

wake up
there's a fire
and here is life again
oh sweet life again
life it spins
another chance
into the glory of God
deep into the water

if i fell into my life again
will my life it spins
into the morning
and if i fell into my life again
and i am born again
this time i wake up
i'll be soaring

God don't be mad
i promise we are all coming back
your audience is strong
the lobby it is boring
nothing going on out there
expensive watered down beer

if i fell into my life again
will my life it spins
into the morning
and if i fell into my life again
and i am born again
this time i wake up
i'll be soaring

blow out the candles

don't be the martyr that i sing in this tune
who plays out the clown and plays the buffon
changing my skin as the sky changes blue
silly old scales that are timeless and used

plastic sane porters and looking glass shoes
she wears on her hair fine lights from the moon
kneel on the saddle and ride towards the womb
each one elected, selected for grooms

eyes that seek something, that seek out the wind
and troubles the company out of the sin
lonely and helpless we'll see you again
simple and twisted my silly old friend

checking and changing our way to the front
won't give it on over and won't give it up
not for the money laid down to the ground
not for the blood that's been shed all around

i can't spell it, the thought they aren't mine
my faces they flinch at the portraits in time
verily keeping both eyes to the moon
waxing and waning on diamonds like you

and i wish i could take it all on at one

blow out the candles
blow out the candles
by mid-july, no reason to try
winds will blow it all out to sea

blow out the candles
blow out the candles
middle december
always remember
the dangerous changes
blowing back to me

curtains are slapping the oiled wood
signal the end of the show
a sould re-arranged
the drawing and painting
that hang on the museum walls

nothing can train one for this kind of thing
a fright beyond all that we know
it whispers and sneers, and interferes
with our movement our ebb and our flow

and i wish i could take it all on at one

blow out the candles
blow out the candles
by mid-july, no reason to try
winds will blow it all out to sea

blow out the candles
blow out the candles
middle december
always remember
the dangerous changes
blowing back to me

christina's world

christina's world

striking a match alive
closing the gaps inside
she breaks a holy silence
she thinks that it's physical
or maybe electrical
magic got nothing on science

she has seen both of us
compact and dangerous
each drop in the bucket endured
she's always near to us
uncommonly dear to us
the line of affection are blurred

cristina has clear eyes
and with her clear eyes
she sees vacant hands denied
the weak and weary wine

cristina's gotta clean up
pull a rabbit from a rusty cup
she has magic enough
for both sides

she brushed her hand away
on the side of his face
thinking tomorrow was today
but he's just a roustabout
boy's feet ain't on the ground
eclipsing her joy and sorrow

she leans into him just a bit
a cheekbone, a pale eyelid
the girl is a manhatten stunner
she thinks a few bones just might
floating on the river at night
completing a fabulous summer

aesop says

endless day, black as cain
i ain't ever able
the lights went out, choked him to the ground
that followed the fable

but Aesop says, 'we've all been left for dead'
the horse has left the stable
Aesop fed his children bitter bread
scraps upon the table

the first wise man rides his horse upon the land
and eyes it with compassion
and the next wise man, with a fancy caravan
the latest country fashion

cain unstuck, a comic suction cup
miraculous shit happens
an octopus that bleeds into the rough
with adam ever rapping

shades of gray, recede into the day
as cain recites to abel
the final verse and chapter to the play
a never ending fable

but Aesop says, 'we've all been left for dead'
the horse has left the stable
Aesop fed his children bitter bread
scraps upon the table

a third wise man rides far into the sand
they don't like his attitude
a fourth wise man pitches pennies through the land
he is a bastard through and through

two of us

two of us

easy now, it's just the two of us
let's go slow or we'll turn to dust
our shiny nickles will burn and rust
let's take it easy, just the two of us

in the evening, assume the dusk
carries pilgrims through the boom and bust
climb the ghost girl tower if you must
in the end, it's just the two of us

this is a dream so we will surely fly
this ain't our first or only lullabye

in the morning, when the sun comes up
the fog it clears out in a sorry rush
we've on a circle, confirmed to lust
let's pretend it's just the two of us

there will be others, please tell me so
or this heart will be the first to go

too many things to tear us apart
this life it aint no stroll in the park
i'll be here when our number up
just you and me, just the two of us

if i could

if i could

i'd give you everything if i could
i'd buy you diamond rings if i could
i'll be there by your side, day and night, black and white, morning light

i'll pray for our salvation if i should
i'll pray for domination if i should
whatever comes to mind, when it's time, day and night, black and white

i'll shed 1000 skins if you would
shed 1000 skins with me too
we'll be quite the pair
day and night
black and white
all is right

cliche eyes

cliche eyes

angel eyes, pirate eyes, cliche eyes
are on the rise sooner

i won't mind, if your dark eyes, can't make me cry
c'mon and prove it

i see the rhymes
the taste the time
shake and shine
lighting the fuses

fall like bombs that climb
into crazy lines
burns into your fine
angel eyes

all souls be kind
all souls be kind
fall like flies
into pirate eyes

la la living large like the other ones...
but who wants to be like the other ones?

the western world

the western world

all is quiet in the western world
there are shadows in the east
gears turning as the the paper martyrs
revving up for a feast

all voices coming home
rushng back to me

an intelligence in the world
like a boat on the ocean
like a blue eyed, golden girl
with a hint of devotion

all voices come rushing on
calling back to me

one day the sun will block out all your distant rage
and all your lost and tired clues
will lead you down the path and through that giant maze
where she reveals it all to you

and in the wilds of the western world
where pain and hearts collide
we hear the patter of the little footsteps
here comes the child

and he is coming home
and he is rushing back to me

one day i'll see the rain and take it for what it is
a little water on the grave
one night i'll see the moon and shake my sorry head
all this confusion was in vain

it's gone silent in the western world
and there is motion in the east
there crawls towards bethlehem the
black eyed beast

and he is rushing home
rushing home to me

i'll be fine

i'll be fine
i'll be there to hold you to resolutely scold you
on my dime

and you'll be fine
there's no need to worry
barricade and worry
your four lines, you'll be fine

and i'll be wild
super scared but famous
crystal stud courageous
let it slide

you'll be mine
periphery and spaces
egyptian styled wages
traps and lies
and a second batting eye

any artist in the middle ages
would feel his age, would fill the pages
with dots and half circles
men read the cards like braille

what's this vast sympathy?
bright as the moon, as sweet as tea?
the night is gritty
let's head into the city

oh brother, we're as thick as thieves
pen on paper, thin as leaves
on a piano they play every piece
since nineteen seventy

now that all the money's marked
the dog's are kennelled, the car is parked
but the dogs are sure to bark
when the highway hits the heart

sister wish your wish away
it won't be coming back again
intention will not sweeten it
for sometimes

cuz none of this don't matter much
our bags are packed, our tickets punched
everything to time succumbs
and sometimes

father you arrest me now
i will not kneel, i will not bow
you of all people should know by now
my reasons

i have suffered wicked blows
from out of time, from head to toe
we live by all these lies and shadows
sometimes

and mother please accept this light
we'll make it good, we'll make it right
rivers of sacrificial rites
redeem us

with my two arms i will pick you up
i'll lift you up, and then what?
it's so easy to forget it all again

she is not real

we were wasting time
just wasting time
we were out of signs
out of signs
no more morning light
no morning light
to guide us through the night
the end of night

and while the shadows shook and quaked
sensing a mistake
perhaps a moonless rain?

and while the matter was in play
the questions all remained
we must have been mistaken...

she is not real

we were drunk on wine
drunk on wine
pretty much all the time
all the time

she circled through my mind
through my mind
spirits have speeds of light
and hearts of fire

and while the shadows shook and quaked
sensing a mistake
perhaps a moonless rain?

and while the matter was in play
the questions all remained
we must have been mistaken...

she is not real

raise you up

katie caught me by the river
couldn't happen, can't deliver
makes her shake and makes her shiver slowly

now the love lights out of passion
and the sights that passed for passion
have not the kindness or compassion only

i will raise you up sweet darlin
i will wake you up
i will take you up
into my sky

i will lay you down (in the water)
where you'll be safe and sound
both feet on the gound
you are always mine

katie caught me on the highway
1/2 the distance to miami
talked me into move north of vegas

we set up shop, quite a business
keeps you all on hooks and tenders
what with all the crooks and gamblers
in vegas

i will raise you up sweet darlin
i will wake you up
i will take you up
into my sky

i will lay you down (in the water)
where you'll be safe and sound
both feet on the gound
you are always mine

so me and katie split the difference
i took queens and she took memphis
a hundred seven car collision nightly

we tried and failed a quick escape
a serpentine bondlike evasion
that led us to our shallow graves
in sknny oklahoma

i will raise you up sweet darlin
i will wake you up
i will take you up
into my sky

she was ice and i was fire
i was truth and she was liars
i was innocence and she was a soul expired

from out of the hazy past and distance
a figure once appeared to both of us
friar tuck came to his senses, begged us, come with us

i will raise you up sweet darlin
i will wake you up
i will take you up
into my sky

i will lay you down (in the water)
where you'll be safe and sound
both feet on the gound
you are always mine

into the deep end

i married jane on a cold rainy day
when the word from the wall tumbled down
there were visions and noise we were told to rejoice
and we both laid our bodies on the ground

then we grabbed what we could , and we said goodbye for good
to our brothers and sisters
a hand to the wood, yet we never understood
the source of the fierce love

it was only a matter of time before
we fell into the deep end

we carved out a life hidden in the night
and under cover from the true world all around us
there was dirt on my hands as i executed plans
that would feed us and sustain us

lead bullets can fly in the blinking of an eye
but the treasure that is unseen
will now come to light, as the victim loses life
when jane and i were married

sooner or later, we all were going down down
we fell into the deep end

you know how the say, from the cradle to the grave
well the grave will never find me
cuz i will thrive and i will always be alive
in the darkest part of your dreams

and you know how the say, the clay from which we're made
we all are gonna melt there
well fuck all that, i'm a spirit, i'm a cat
i am the devil dear

jesus christ, may27, street jelly

jesus christ
save you for half the price
while soldiers roll the dice
he sadly wipes the blood and tears from his eyes
these humans won't survive
your son is coming home tonight

lennon's dead
and me walk who will defend
chapman until the death
satan and a legal system lying in bed
washington receiving head
or is this time the devil giving instead?

marilyn
begs jack to put it in
she revels in her sins
she knows the president is fast but he's good
hooray for hollywood
and she would scream if she could

jfk
3 lives blown away
november skies are grey
his pretty wife and kids are hustled away
to see another tragic day
images carved in stone again

howard stern utters the final word
while morning coffee burns
we sadly lie awake and laugh till it hurts
will we ever learn?
or is this place just to absurd?

i'm in love
but like you i've had enough
run over by a truck
false dreams, like water
are burning up in the sun
my hearts beating like a drum
and we have only just begun

jesus christ
thanks for the sacrifice
but was it worth the price?
dumb songs like this blindly invoke your name
to validate some stupid claim
let's pretend your death was not in vain

ain't it passing strange?

darlin fool : may 17

Darlin’ Fool

All the times we'd look around big search through a bastard town –
no dreams or drinks for money no time to roll away the stone –
all the rhymes we'd toss around sing your songs and laugh it down –
was there ever a chance that we would back away from the fall?

too many lights, I can't see, too many ways to kill this devil in me –
I once had the spirit but that was long ago –

Darlin' Fool, took me forever to believe in you,
we look forever for a love that's true –
give me the word and i will die for you –
I love you, give you a love that you will never lose,
and I will never turn my back on you –
give me a chance and I will see it through...my darlin' fool –

stop this bloody free for all - there are no more heroes within these walls - protect your loved ones from the call of animals and sin –
I remember when I first saw your face, the world allows you just one taste –
leads you on a hopeless chase for the rest of your days... –

too many lights, I can't see, too many ways to kill this devil in me –
I once had the spirit, it's a fading memory-

I wish that we could just fall asleep – cool pillows and a summer breeze –
endless dreams, forever free from this reality –
feed your star, anticipate a pistol shot a little late
we're nothing but a fisher's bait been cast into the sea

too many lights, I can't see, too many ways to kill this devil in me –
I once had the spirit it wasn't meant to be –
